My son Nick was in a wreck on his motorcycle on Wed. night. A woman pulled out in front of him at an intersection. We don't know the details yet as he doesn't remember other than seeing her pull out. We know he went through a window since he was covered in glass. Luckily he was in full protective gear which he always wore, even the gloves which he usually didn't. Even so he ended up with a badly broken arm and some other injuries that required surgery. He was in surgery for over 6 hours on thurs. Here are the x-rays of his arm.
His protective gloves protected his hands and wrists from severe damage as did his coat which kept him from breaking ribs. The gloves were totally busted and his helmet was damaged as well. Somehow he went through a window as he was covered in glass.
On top of his arm he had other injuries that required surgery to fix and he has a significant concussion. He also has trouble with feeling in his other arm, altho no visible injuries.
The surgeries went well and he should recover fully and should be discharged today.
There is nothing that I know of that is as horrible as watching a child hurting. It certainly has been a long few days, but I think the worst is behind us now.
