nice job ,. tuf work ,,. 55 yrs ago I watched dad use log chains and a hand held slip scoop to dig out and enlarge the cellar under the house that was built in 1843,.. my sisters called out his commands and my mother drove the VAC Case . 30 yrs ago , I dug out the low ceiling basement here in this house ,, used a small BOB CAT loader that was perfect for the job , took out 18 inches of clay and a hodge podge of thin concrete floor and cobblestones,. I got by with pouring a 10 inch curb all around the base of the walls inside the house, bent rebar into the floor and curb and poured at the same time ,,. I now have 85 inches head room ... lucky for me it did not rain while we had the house dug out and waiting for concrete ,,. crazy rains could had shoved the walls in ,.. .. saw green concrete walls start to give in as a teen , the builder wanted to play on his hilift ,.. and started backfilling before the floor joists and concrete floor was in,.. his reasoning was it would make it easier to frame the house.. it rained rite after wards and the walls heaved and crackt almost 4 inches , AT THE TOP ONLY , on one side and pushed in at the bottom on the opposite side a couple inches ,,. although crackt the walls stayed together anddid not separate .. 1st time I ever saw porta powers at work ,,. they dug the wall back out best they could with a back hoe and pushed the wall back,, he wanted to try the hi lift and dozer but brighter minds suggested port a powers and timbers... the one wall moved back on the top , but the bottom never budged , so we poured the floor 1st and quikly set the floor joists and floor . and triple coated the foundation walls . it is a good house today
