My wife cannot stand the smell of any internal combustion engine ("you smell like gas!" like that is a bad thing, oh and it was diesel, by the way). She hates virtually everything about the farm (mostly because I love it), and only agrees to stay because the location is very convenient for what she does like. She has engrained this hatred in all 3 kids, who will begrudgingly help if I ask nicely well in advance and pay a decent wage. Both boys helped with baling last season and my daughter did drive the baler as well! So I have some hope, but our most recent all-family discussion concluded that none wants to stay here in the future. They could all leave now, and I would probably be better off, unfortunately. I really envy most of your situations, but admittedly, I may have some advantages in mine as well.
