A couple of years ago the power went out here during a New Years Eve storm. We were out long enough to look to fire up the generator to run the freezers and furnace for a little while. I ran out to the barn- dead battery on the generator (see law, Murphy). I have the battery I just took out of one of the cars over there, grab that! Sure, pick it up by the handle and start to walk back to the generator- handle comes off cleanly and the battery drops- edge first, just catches that little part of the second toe that sticks out farther than the big toe. That's all.
I felt like it probably was severed, but afraid to look. Went into the house to take the shoe off- no blood, but a toe now wider than the big one, turning black fast. Stilted today, just a nub of a nail, hurts a little. Figure I crushed the bone flat or something. Should have had my composite work boots on!
