I can relate to what you are saying about the headlights blinding you.
Travelling to town one morning, still dark out on a secondary two lane highway I came over a hill, there was a truck pulled over on the shoulder with its high beams on facing me, for a split second you cant see a thing, a second later right in front of me in the middle of my lane is a guy standing between two horses, locked up the tires on the old pick up but it was clear there was no way I could stop in time, let off the brakes and cranked hard on the wheel, missed them by feet, amazing I didn't roll the truck.
His horses got out, he went looking for them in his truck and had his high beams on, spotted the horses, pulled over and got out to grab the horses at the same time I was coming over the hill.
Was a lot more than horse manure to clean up that morning.
