Without knowing the hours on it the cylinders don't look like they have been leaking. I paid $9k for a 2004 T5C in 2008, it had only 400 hrs on it. The left cylinder had a burnt valve. I've fixed it and now have 1600 hrs on it. A few months ago I got the itch to buy a second terramite so I don't have to trailer my T5C from one place to the other one in country. It was a 2000 T5D that came from a rental place that was used, abused, oil leaks all over and put away wet. Paid $5950 for it. Hour meter was broken. The kohler engine was blown and replaced with a 20 hp honda. I'm in love with the honda, cleaner burning engine. If I ever blow the kohler engine, I'll try to find a honda. The engine is unique, the output shaft is on the flywheel side. Need to make modifications too for the honda. Small engine warehouse has kohlers for around $1800.
Because of it's age, I would think $5k would be stealing it. Things to look for are nicks in the hydraulic cylinder rods, simple abuse. The hoses will most likely have been replaced. Look for slop in all the pins on the boom and Front loader. Look for oil leaks around the torque motor. Check condition of tires, but they aren't that expensive off ebay. All my front tires have tubes, nails.
Terramite is in Charleston W VA. Parts are expensive, $55 for cylinder rebuild kits, but parts are available. I use hitch pins for replacement pins, many times cheaper than Terramites. I purchased a new torque motor for the T5D, $800. The T5D looks like the newer T5C, wider tires, bigger front bucket.
It's only 2 wheel drive, but it has a differential lock out so both wheels pull. I made a ballast weigth for the back boom. Extended back it transfers all the weight of the tractor 3100 lb to the rear wheels. Very handy to have, because the front bucket is rated at lifting 1800 and it can easily go past that poing. I use it all the time I'm using the front bucket.
If you can repair a riding mower, you can repair a terramite. I don't think there are dealers, you deal with terramite. They have an excellent parts and tech guy for advice. Pound for pound there strong. This may ruffle some Kobuta owners. Neighbor saw my T5C and bought a BX23 with bolt on loader and hoe. He wanted me to test it out. I was too kind not to tell him his BX is a wimp. You can't really go wrong with them. New they are over $20k. Good luck finding them on ebay for under $10k.
The first two pics are of the T5D and the last two are the T5C. I'll never be without them.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
