Screen protector yes, painters tape on both lenses, pull back when taking a photo, HTC one with an aluminum case, seems durable enough as is. It resides in my right leg pocket, carpenter jeans, thin so you don't really notice it. Now if it was prone to being dropped more, might be good to have a case, but they do load up with chaff sawdust/chips. Screen protector is a must though. The power jack does get bits of wood in it at times, and its a pain to clean, either leave the phone in a pouch or soft case somewhere safe or tape up that port on the bottom. In as much as I don't care for much of the electronic wizardry of today, being able to be tracked etc LOL !.... the smart phone is handy for many kinds of things, the weather maps are one I use many times a day in some instances.
Upgrade is due this coming month, now time to figure out which one I want next.
