I grew up in a 1600sqft 1 & 1/2 bath Ranch with 12 brothers(8) and sisters(4). My parents started buying Ranch Oak bunk beds and dressers after the first 3 of us were born. Ended up with 6 sets of bunks and 6 dressers. All of them are still in use today with the oldest set 60 years old. As kids go, we were hard on furniture. My wife has tried for years to get me to get rid of the 2 dressers and one set of beds we still have. It ain't happening. Already have a grandson using one dresser (we use the other) and he will get one of the beds (we also use the other in the spare room) when he gets a little bigger. The furniture will be around for his kids (I'll be long gone) if they'er smart enough to keep it.

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
