Yes, they're a gun advocacy group. They should have a solution and be advocating their solution.. Their solution is a "good guy with a gun". It flat doesn't work. A dump truck load of more laws? No. A half dozen or so good laws that are enforced would do the trick.
I think there should be a licensing system based on the style of gun. Classify all guns into 4 categories -
class0 is muzzleloaders, air powered guns, single and double barrel shotguns and rifles. These guns can be bought and sold without any oversight.
Class1 is non-semi-auto or full auto guns with an internal magazine of less than 10 rounds. Owners of these guns would have a class 1 license that can be obtained by taking a hunter safety course, concealed carry course, NRA course, or whatever course that has a couple hours training.
Class2 is any non-semi auto or full auto weapon with a removable magazine. These would require the training, but also have no violent criminal record for the past 2 years
Class3 would be all semi-auto or full auto weapons. This would require the training, no violent criminal record, and a psychiatric evaluation. Class 3 owners need to inform local law enforcement of thier status as a class 3 license holder. I would be required to have a class3 for the guns I own.
When selling a gun, ALL seller would be required to check the buyers license. If they sell a gun to a buyer that then uses the gun in a crime, within 20 days of the sale, they could also be held liable. All sales of class 3 weapons need to be done in a licensed gun seller's place of business. Class2 and class3 licenses need to be renewed yearly.
Would this stop ALL crimes that use a gun? No, but it'd go a long way toward it
Actually, France has had two mass shootings this year that I have heard of. We've had over 360. Their laws appear to be working better than ours.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
