There is a 'square' notch.A fork in the throttle shaft. I usually set the throttle handle at slow/idle speed. You just have to hold your mouth right....It helps to connect the throttle shaft to governor shaft and lift carb onto the manifold.It can be tricky.Good luck! I assume you are talking about a Farmall H/M,etc.?
