Not sure why everyone is giving you advice on "plows" (though that was in your subject line) when you are asking about a disc. It will depend on the diameter of the discs and if you want a single gang or double gang disc. For a double disc the advice of 4-5 ft is probably right. I had a 9n that came with a 8ft single gang (Dearborn nameplate on the side of it). Never used the two together in a field so can't say... but they came together. Didn't want or need equipment that small and resold both of them.
