I'll throw this out to see if anyone has any ideas before I swap it for a reman. About a year ago I bought an old F100 with a 302 engine. Has not been started for approx. 25 years. I am in the process of trying to get engine started to see what I have or if I have a parts truck. Started with the carb, rebuilt it first, then put a battery in to see if it would turn over, and nothing (engine is free). Jumping battery direct to the starter gave no indication of even trying to turn over either. No big deal, I figure, I'll go through the starter (remember I am trying to stay away from any unnecessary expenses until I know what I have). Tore down the starter, new brushes and bushings, and put it together. Tried a bench test, and all I get is a few sparks when I try connecting it, but no sign of it trying to spin. Opened it back up, and see nothing indicating any other problems. Any ideas before I swap it for a reman? I have been through many starters over the years, and never had much issue. I would really like to fix this one if possible, as I am not reading positive things from some of the reman starters, and do not mind spending extra for a quality rebuilt, but as I mentioned, i really do not want to throw a lot of money on something I may end up parting (and I always prefer fixing OEM). I am now thinking this may be one of the reasons it was parked.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
