My ancestors came from the Alsace-Lorraine area. I expect a lot of the immigration of the Germanic peoples had a lot to do with the wars and the constant strife in that area of the old world. Most of the "Kentucky" rifles came from Pennsylvania made by German gunsmiths who were modernizing their tried and true Jaeger rifles to American conditions. My paternal grandmothers ancestors came from Switzerland in the 1630's.
