I sell on ebay I don't use words like "MINT" "LIKE NEW" "VERY GOOD CONDITION". My idea of "like new" my not match the buyers idea and you have a problem. I list everything as having "scratches", "slight paint damage""BOX WEAR","SHELF WEAR" even if I don't see any damage.

I take returns, but charge a 20% restocking fee. EbaY rules state the seller has to refund the shipping one way.

The restocking fee is so I can get my shipping costs back. I have a 14 day return time. I think that is enough time.In all my years on this earth. If I wanted to return an item I bought either in a store or online. It never took me more than two days to do it. Ebay is pushing 60 day returns. I think 60 days is crazy. That just gives the buyer 60 days to use the item for free.

Power sellers must have 60 day returns and 1-2 day handling time to get the seller discounts.

I've only had one person that wanted to return an item. He messaged me asking if he could return his item. I told him he could. He had about four days left when he messaged me. I'm guessing he ran out of time. Never heard back and he never returned his item.

I've never had a problem with a seller when I bought a item and had a problem. The key is to be nice and POLITE with the seller I prefer not to go through the resolution center. Any message going through the resolution center will lower the sellers defect rate.

I have had three buyers open a case claiming they didn't receive there item. All were false. The bought several items that I combined shipping and they did not look good enough in the box to find all there items. Once I told them to dig deeper in the box, They found their missing item. Since they went through the resolution center. It lowered my seller rating and I did nothing wrong. I now tape all the items together or put everything in a zip lock bag so they find everything.

Earlier this year I ordered a set of 1/4 Craftsman 6pt sockets. The seller sent 12pt. I message him and told him of the mistake. he sent me the correct sockets and let me kept the 12 points.

I ordered a coil for an IH H4 magneto. The seller sent me a coil for a J4. I told them of the mistake and they sent the correct coil and a return label for the J4 coil. The mistake was in my favor since the J4 coil costs 10 bucks more than the H4 coil.

Last month, I ordered two display cases. After two weeks and no package. I message the seller, not through the resolution center, Just a plain old message. The seller said he didn't know what happened to my order (he couldn't find any tracking info). He resent two more cases and gave me half my money back.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
