I see very little difference in Canadian beef and US beef. I see a MAJOR difference in US beef and Mexico beef, then you throw in Argentine, Brazilian meat, and the rest... There is a HUGE difference in beef quality!!!
I'm not sure how you would ever label Canadian beef. Is it Canadian because it was born there, fed there slaughtered there? I know LOTS of feeders in Nebraska that were feeding Canadian calves, because they were CHEAP. We all have heard that anything 20 months or younger poses NO threat for mad cow. (not that there has ever been a connection to human illness) so why bother with COOL. Just make sure that the consumer is educated on how the meat grading system works, and let the best beef set the prices.
Personally, I don't know how the American public can stand any beef that I have seen sold in larger grocery stores. AND I DANG SURE CAN'T STAND a steak from a franchise outfit. Guess I am spoiled with what I raise.
