When I was taking statistics course at Cal State-Fullerton we had to use the punch cards. The school only had a few of the punch card machines. At the time I was working for Union Oil Research on the graveyard shift. I knew the research center had a computer so I talked to the computer operator and asked if I could use the key punch machine. He asked me what I had to do. Told him I had three hundred numbers I had to convert to cards. Then have the schools computer find the standard deviation average etc.
He said give me those numbers. In a few minutes he had the cards punched. Probably would have taken me days considering the time waiting to get on the school's keypunch machines and actually punching the numbers to the cards. Then he asked me if he should test them on the company computer. Needless to say everything I turned in was correct.

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
