Not very likely.

No. Water only damages parts in the system.

Bad injectors would cause the problem hot and cold. I suspect you may have engine problems. Try breaking the fuel lines one at a time ,ever so slightly when this problem occurs to pin point the problem cylinder. Could it be a piston going bad after getting hot or excess clearance on the wrist pins? Good problem, let us know what you find.
