As already posted, genetics suck. I grew up on a dairy farm of about 70 cows. While they were all ear-tagged, registered Holsteins, mom had a name for each cow. There was one cow that she called "Trouble". This cow must of been half deer, because she could clear any fence we had. She would just gracefully jump over any fence on our property. We finally sold the cow because there wasn't one that could keep her in. Well, it turned out that her first calf was a heifer. When this heifer got to be of age, it was "Trouble" all over again. "Trouble's" offspring was the same way. We never found out of she was a good milker or not. She got sold before we found out.
