Pa took over his uncles blacksmith shop in the late 30's and ran 'til 58 when he moved to the farm. He was an excellent welder as that craft grew through it's infancy. I'd seen him do some tricky stuff and even though he's gone for 24 years his workmanship is still out there doing its job. I would have to say that he taught me 75% of what I know of that craft. I don't claim to be a great welder, but can hold my own. I'm still pushing rods with his old Emerson welder. I wonder have many pounds of rod that thing has gone through?

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
