My dad and I taught each other how to weld. My mom bought Dad a Lincoln welder for his birthday one time and he had never welded in his life. I was about 12 at the time. We both learned to weld together. By the time we got done we could weld Pepsi cans together (they were steel at that time) just to try to outdo each other. If one of us would discover something we would tell the other and then try to do better than the other. My dad was killed in a truck accident when I was 19. There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
