Ag. students have rebuilt a John Deere B with a serial number of 201000 or greater (late model). Kids are exhibiting at Ag. Mechanic Shows in Texas. The tractor has two levers on the steering pedestal. One for the throttle and the other for the lever that runs the shutter in front of the radiator. The tractor has a single gas tank. A judge has ruled that the tractor is an all fuel tractor and since it has a shutter lever it should have two gas tanks. We have looked at a number of JD B tractor with two levers, a single tank and has shutter. Is the judge correct?
Also have had difficulty adjusting the governor. When tractor was on a dynamometer the governor appeared to work well under load. Off the dyno. the tractor does not idle very good and has a tendency to elevate to a high RPM when the clutch is engaged. After the tractor begins moving the governor appears to work better. We have made several adjustments to the linkages. Nothing has seemed to solve the problem. Do we have a linkage problem or a governor problem?
