I use to start school at 8:00 in the morn and the teacher was always there at 6 every morning to build up a fire in the coal furnace so the school would be warm. I went to a one room school and many days it was snowing and blowing so hard you could not see 10 foot. Only once I remember being off school for a week because of the weather. It was way below zero and there was a blizzad. Had to think these schools now have all the insulation and the one room ones never had any thing. If you sit by a window it was like being in a wind tunnel
