I can deal with the snow , Now ice when it cold enough even salt does not work. Of the fiftyfour years of driving i have only missed out on winter driving two year while i was in the service . so that means i have had a bunch of winter. The one year our weather guesser said we would get 4-6 inches of snow , well it started snowing around dark . at seven P M the dog asked to go out . So i let the dog out and took the broom and swept the back steps and a little of the side walk of about three inches , at about ten dog say hey i need to go out again and i swept another three inches off the steps . The War Dept and i stayed up till a little after midnight and just before we went up to bed i let the dog out for one last outing and swept another three inches off the steps and walk . Weather guessers were still talking 4-6 , Must be the new math. Being it was Saturday we were not in a big hurry to get out of bed when the room got light . Till i hear a engine running . So i get up to see just what nutty neighbor is making noise at 8 on a Saturday morning . Looked out the ft. window and i see the nut case across the street out with his new Craftsman 28 inch 12 Hp snow blower with the tall spout and i can only see about four inches of the top of the spout sticking up above the snow and the top half of the Fat man in his red sportcar cap . And it is still coming down hard . Yea our 4-6 turned into 27-30 With wind . My street that is a main state route is litterly CLOSED . All i had for a snow blower back then was a junk Atlas five horse twenty inch , my spout did not even come close to being over top of the snow and just where the hello is it any way as it was buried under the tarp. Tractors are all out at the farm so that is of no help. My one ton 4X4 ain't going to get out so why even try as i would have to dig my way to it to start with . The snow in my turn around and drive is chest deep. due to the blowing and drifting. So the phone still works so i call my buddy and said ya think that you could bring in the skid steer once you get dug out . He calls back three hours later to tell me that they are still digging there way to the barn with grain shovels and they are about a third of the way to the barn from the house as they can not even walk thru it as it is in places seven to eight feet deep. BUT we were only going to get 4-6 inches.
