I agree with some others comments on used, but be careful. Price new first, then look at and price used. Back when I was getting ready to buy a used 4x4 truck I started pricing used - approx 2 years old or less with less than 50K on the odometer. Salesman at the time priced me some used trucks and he said he could sell me new for about same money. He was right, as with rebates, incentives, etc I was very close. Keep in mind that sticker prices mean absolutely nothing, but make used look more attractive. The last new truck I bought was a full size ext cab 4x4, and carried a sticker of over $36000. By the time incentives, rebates came out, it was really around $30,000. By time I got my trade in the picture, I was well under $20,000, and if memory serves I think I ended up with a difference around $18000. Most of the used trucks on the lot were pricing around the $30,000 mark, with no incentives, although they will deal if you are not trading, but betting that I would have been in the same ballpark trading for a 2 year old similar truck, with much less warranty, many more miles, and wear and tear, and about half the vehicles on the lots that have been traded have been in an accident of some sort, even though it does not show up on any carfax or anywhere else (traded an suv off about a year ago that had been in an accident, but car fax showed nothing, and dealer did not find the record of the accident when I traded). Now, if you are looking at buying from an individual, or an older truck, things are different, but my bet is if you are looking at a couple year old truck, from a dealer, look at new first then see if it still makes sense.

I worked as a machinist and engine erector, with time spent overseas. I have always had a love for machinery, and an appreciation for farming and farm machinery. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
