I bought a beautiful 1965 Cadillac in West Virginia and I intended to haul it home on a trailer similar to the one you have but when I saw how close it was going to be to the side rails I changed my mind. I went home and registered the car and drove it home to my place in Northern New York. I am glad I did because it was a great ride. The 56 Chevy may not be in condition for the road so I would suggest that you borrow or rent a car carrier, trailer without side rails, to haul it home. They don't make those great old cars anymore and you would be pretty upset if you damaged it by being cheap and foolish.
