When I was in the bus business I bought a school bus that was a few years old sight unseen off of eBay. It was 17 hours away. I drove out and hopped in her and drove her home. It needed a little TLC but had only 39,000 original miles. Well worth it. It ran routes for years and all I did was replace manifolds. Dang 429.
I was looking for a small chore tractor with heat and air. I found an IH 886 in Oklahoma four hours away. I drove down on a Saturday to see it. It was the original owner and had 3100 hours on it. His best friend was there (who happened to own the IH dealer that sold it new. I loaded her up the next day and brought her back home. It's a time capsule and awesome tractor. Forget to plug it in and it's zero degrees? No problem - she starts right away. I won't ever let it go.
