The heavy duty steel Eagle cans are very good quality as far as durability. They can be a little clumsy trying to get into tight spaces, and are known to trickle gas down the side of the can when they are full and trying to pour. Another problem is they don't seal airtight when the spring loaded lid goes down. If you use a lot of gas, don't use for long term storage, that won't be a problem. But evaporation speeds the "rancid" factor.
The others, well, good luck... It's a trade off. Good storage, go with plastic with good seals. Metal for durability.
The plastic with the valve built into the nozzle, absolutely worthless!
Might find something on Ebay. The old plastic with a vent are not too bad if you're careful with them.
