Poster stated that he was worried about his Dad getting up from his recliner. I suggest that he look up American Furniture Warehouse.com When I broke my shoulder, we went to their store nearby us and found that they sold mostly American-made furniture. We bought a "Big Boy" power recliner and lift chair for $700 from them. There was a $50 delivery charge and $50 sales tax, which brought total to $800. The ones that we looked at special handicap supply chairs wanted about $2,000 for imported chairs that are not as well built as the American-made one that we bought. Even with some extra shipping and handling you can get a better recline and lift chair for a lot less from American Furniture than the specialty stores. The chair doesn't rock like a recliner, but that is the part that makes it difficult to get up out of as the recliner chair tilts too farm down in the front when you try to get up.
Please pass this info along to the poster if you remember who it was.
