I did that several years ago...it works somewhat. The bigger trees were all females. So we had such a problem with the bugs that I would take the power washer out with soapy water and spray the south side of the house. The soap would kill them and they would pile up around the house. Had to do it several times a day. Several days in a row. Without the trees there are a lot fewer but we still have some. They mostly like box elder but they also can be on any other maple. I think we have more this year than we have had in a while. Guess I better check out the perimeter to see what sprouted up.
