Don't think you will have much luck doing a direct replacement of your original unless you can find a dealer that kept everything. I have a couple of older snapper walkbehind mowers don't know what the block or cover are like on them and it would be a project. Not one you want to hire a professional shop to tackle and that is why your dealer isn't interested. When you can go buy a new tiller for what the box stores sell them for you can't afford to do much more than basic maintenance when you are paying shop rate. This is really the lament of the older small engine shops.
There are a couple of shops in my area I could recommend but I don't know where you are.
