My 58 GMC grain truck with the 270 straight six. It doesn't have an oil filter. When I bought it I had to put a screwdriver in the drain hole to get it to drain. I pulled the pan and removed the sludge with a one inch putty knife. That was one heavy pan. It has a floating oil pickup screen like old Farmalls. That's all that probably saved it.
Growing up our neighbor was an auction addict. He bought a 1930 model A Ford at one and had me drive it home. He actually never once drove it because of his arthritis. Anyway, I drove it home in 100 degree heat. I was impressed it didn't get hot. I should have been more impressed it didn't lock up - it needed the screwdriver treatment.
The worst buildup I have ever seen was in a VW Karmann Ghia I bought from the original owner. It had 250K miles and all he ever ran was Penzoil. I haven't purchased a quart since. It was like something out of a horror movie.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
