I made box kites as a teenager. I built one about 6' tall. I was determined to launch my little sister. She held on and bounced around....if the winds had been higher she would have been gone😅
I also welded a hang glider up out of 1"tubing. I heat sealed black poly from the silage pit onto it. Then hauled myself and it up to the back top of the silage pile. I ran toward the edge we had been feading from....a nice square drop off. Let's just say that didn't work out but nothing broke except my welds. I got a few bumps from the tubing smacking the back of my head.
Last May for my sons 5th birthday my whole family went to a park by the river and flew kites for the afternoon. We had a bi plane and a big bird and a trick kite. Plus some small basic diamonds like Charlie Brown used to crash in the tree. Everyone had a great time.
I think it's time it took my kids to the barn and build another box kite. Those kites truly can go a thousand feet. Maybe for the Easter weekend. If we do I will post pictures. Grant
