: The clutch cover just pops off. Use a hammer and a blunt screwdriver to tap it off. Inside you will find three bolts with castellated nuts locked in place by cotter pins. Remove the cotter pins and turn each tap about 1/4 turn ,then try your clutch again. If it is still too loose then turn each nut one more notch. Try clutch again for tightness. It should take very firm pressure to make it engage completely, Replace the cotter pins and replace clutch cover. There is 2 friction discs inside that can be replaced if needed but normally they don't require replaceing.: Two weeks ago I bought a 1949 "B" for mowing and light plowing( I have a very small place.. 50 acres) I was mowing the other day, and I noticed the clutch was slipping. And it got progressivley worse the longer I mowed. I'm a "newbiee" at this. : : This is my first tractor. Is there any kind of adjustment ? Or do I need to clean the clutch plates ? Or do I need a new clutch ? How can I tell if it is "FRIED" ? How do I get the clutch cover off ? Any help, tips or advise would be greatly appreciated. Too add to what else has been said.... when properly adjusted, the clutch should "snap" in and out, you should hear it snap when it fully engages and disengages. Dave
