I put an hour meter on the MH44 EFI and decided to take it out in the warm weather to see if it worked. I put the tractor in road gear, opened up the throttle, it went to idle and stayed there. I was lucky that I was still in my drive, so I backed into the shop. My first thought was the mechanical governor that I rebuilt this winter failed. I checked the throttle, and it was stuck open, so no way it was a governor issue, but it was idling smooth as silk. I took the throttle body off and a shop towel was stuck behind the throttle plate holding it open, but restricting the air flow.
The computer did what it should have, the restriction in the air flow kept the fuel addition where it was calculated to be. I never thought of it this way, an intake leak should cause the engine to run fast, so an intake restriction should cause it to run slow.
BTW, the little hour meter works good, will post picture of it.
