Got on road diesel for 1.63.9 a couple weeks ago . I installed a second tank in my truck a while back as a reserve for when i use it on long trips since my truck has 4.10's i do not enjoy the best of fuel milage as say a truck with 3.55's would get . Then add in that out house on the back and wind drag really puts the wizzy to fuel mileage , so i added a 50 gallon tank . set up with a 12 volt pump hooked into the fill neck . when the FEED ME light comes on flip the switch and just keep on driving and in about 12-15 miles the main is full and turn off the switch. And by the time the second tank is used up so am i and time to run up the white flag for the day . Then the next morning you can either flip the switch once again and get close to 3/4 tank off the reserve and go shopping for lower fuel prices then fill everything once again . For around here running it gives me two to three months of running with out buying fuel and gives time to shop for lower fuel prices. Playing this game can keep up to fifty to sixty bucks in my pocket even with chasing cheap fuel. Now as for farm fuel the one supplier told us that If we bought one more tank and would take over 600 gallon at a drop it meant a 30 cent price reduction . And if we used say a 1000 gallon it would be cheaper . a full tanker load would be cheaper yet. we have been talking to our supplier about getting both on and off road delivered and setting up a tank and pump for the pick ups . My buddy uses the most since he does butchering and is now running to like six different butcher shops plus the on farm kills an he will and can run thru 150-200 gallon a month in his truck where i will usually run thru 27-30 gallon a month . So if he and i put in one 1500 gallon tank just for the trucks the savings would mount and we could bundle a load of fuel and get a deeper discount with the once a year drop .

Today's Featured Article - A Question for Dads This recent topic from the Tractor Talk discussion board is being highlighted because it is an awesome display of the caliber of individuals that have made this site their own. The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
