I posted a few weeks back that I was looking at buying a 1938 1.5 ton Chevy with dump bed. I did end up buying it and the truck is now home safe and sound after a successful removal from the barn it was sitting in. Attached are some pictures I took as we were loading it up and once we got it home and in the garage. Overall I would say it is in pretty good condition. It last ran and drove to where it was parked 15 years ago and has been on a dirt floor in a dry barn since then. I had gone and worked on it a bit a week before we picked it up, and put some marvel mystery oil down each of the cylinders to help encourage it to turn over after sitting for so long so hopefully that will help with getting it running.
The good: I believe the motor is free. I have only gotten it to slightly turn which I believe is because the battery is shot and it can't build up enough power to actually crank it over. It came from out west so it does not have any major rust damage and all the tires are new except the spare. I am hoping that I will be able to try and get it started this weekend since I will have time to work on it and it's supposed to be pretty nice out.
The bad: Left rear hub needs new seals and possibly bearings due to transmission oil leaking into the brake drums. If so I will probably just do both hubs to be safe. The left hub locked up on us pushing into the garage so I am hoping that taking the hub back off, cleaning it good, and putting new bearings and seals in will help. Also the brake line has a leak somewhere and as of right now brakes do not work including emergency brake. The clutch also might be stuck from sitting so hopefully that will loosen up easily. If anyone has any knowledge about parts for this and if they are the same as the 1 tons that would be great. I plan on going to the stovebolt forum to try and find more information and sources for parts but any and all advice/knowledge is helpful.
Not sure how far in depth I will go until I get it running. Depending on what I find needs doing I may either just fix what needs fixing or do a complete restoration if I have to take it all apart anyways. Thinking of painting it the original red color which should go along with the Farmalls nicely.
To keep it tractor related I'm hoping be able to put my Farmall F-12 on the back and bring the truck and tractor to shows like that.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
