I think that model came with a generator. Being that late of a model, it would have been negative ground. If it has an alternator, it would definitely be negative ground.
If you have it connected positive ground, that needs to be reversed.
If it is a generator system, try polarizing the generator. To polarize a generator on a tractor having a Delco 12V negative ground system, attach a jumper wire to the A terminal on the generator. Briefly for only a split second, spark the wire to the positive battery terminal.
If it has an alternator, and the battery was connected positive ground, the alternator has probably been damaged and will need to be repaired or replaced.
With the ignition off, all accessories, lights, etc. off, there should be no reading on the amp gauge, or any spark when connecting the battery. If there is, the battery charge will soon be depleted. You will need to find the source of the draw. The first place to start would be the regulator (if it's a generator) or the alternator. Try disconnecting the regulator wires, or the alternator wires, see if that removes the draw. If not, keep looking for anything else that may be on, 30 amps is a huge draw, it will be something obvious.
