I think you are talking about the larger threads on the stem, the ones that hold it in the rim, right? The end of a valve stem is 7.7 mm X 32 tpi. You need a precision measuring device and a thread pitch gauge to really determine what you have. Mine is either 5/8 or 14 mm and pretty fine. You could probably take a 3 cornered file and repair the threads if you get it out of the rim. I have broken off a couple cutting brush and just replace them with 5/8 rubber ones because my tires are tubeless and I never intend to put fluid in them.
