Hi Usually the smaller tractors don't give much transmission problems, as the motors not big enough to hurt them if a guy tries to do to much. Unlike their bigger brothers that can be a total night mare as the motors better than the transmissions. I'm thinking maybe somebody's been driving this one like they stole it( rough on gear changes maybe), for this problem, has it had a loader on at any time?.
You may find you are going to need a service manual and that transmission might be very expensive to repair Deutz like to value parts very highly. some of those transmissions need to be shimmed and set up perfect as they don't work right if not, when you tear them apart and start fixing stuff and re assembling . I think if it was mine I'd be getting some covers off and see if you can find out whats wrong and rough parts cost for New and used if available. Then decide if you can afford to do it and keep it, or hope you can get out if you don't like what you find . Sometimes the guy that sold it new what the repair was going to cost. I have personally turned away several "deals" over the years when I did some research on the parts costs for the problem that was apparent, not adding for anything else you might find to while fixing it. Regards Robert
