Amazon is rarely the cheapest place to get stuff. What Amazon is is a central clearing house that offers almost EVERYTHING. I tend to go to Amazon to peruse the selection of a given item I'm not already familiar with-parts and attachments for my wifes Kitchenaid mixer was the recent example. Then when I find what I'm looking for, and the PART#!!!!, I can start comparison shopping. Ebay is often the cheapest place even after shipping. Living where I do, with very limited shopping choices, it works very well for me. But yes, you have to be smart enough to look around and compare.
