I would have to say that the quality is not the same. I do not like the laser etching that Craftsman is using now. Someday it will be hard to argue with them that it is a craftsman. My dad was going to return his favorite long double box 1/2x9/16 wrench. They tried to trade a thick sided one. Dad said it would be to tight to use in spots. He opted to think about it and brought his wrench back home. The sockets and extentions are thicker. That tells me they are not using the quality steel that they once did. I would say that the ratchet gears are junk now. I have alot of broken crafts man tools. I should be rounding them up and trading them in on something. A life time waranty is only good as long as the company last. Not sure how a Sears/K-Mart colapse would affect Craftsman...MTP
