A lot of grinding when trying to get into gear from neutral??? I would bet that the clutch disk is stuck to the input shaft. It makes the clutch drag just a little when released. The reason it shifts better when cold is the transmission oil is thicker and makes the shaft turn harder than the dragging clutch can turn. when the oil is warm then the transmission turns easier and the dragging clutch can turn it then.
If your talking about the actual gear shift lever moving hard then that I would have no idea of the cause.
If it is the first problem there should be a cover on the right side you can remove and see the clutch/pressure plate assembly through. Try to lubricate the input shaft splines where they go into the clutch disk. DO Not use too much or your clutch can slip from the oil on the clutch facings.
