Yes the wipers are air and I've dealt with that in an old ford too. Big pain but if I'm lucky the seal just needs lube.
It is a 10 spd with a deep reduction rear end in the first 5 so I guess it's a 15??? Mack transmission?
It does look long in that first picture but I think it's pretty standard sized. It turns and steers really well compared to one of my dad's old Luevilles.
The guy told me it was a Mack 350 engine??? I'll look for casting numbers tomorrow to see if I can figure it out. It is an inline 6 with two heads.
It has auto grill shutters which close when air pressure is up an open as it heats up. I was concerned they were stuck but worked perfect and engine temp stayed at 185 by the dash gage.
The kid who works for me was quite excited but the first thing that came to his mind was... We better be carfeful with that. If we get it stuck in the field or drive off a dyke how will we pull it out. He's pretty smart really. We can pick up the front or rear end of the 5 ton chev dump when empty and put it back on the road with my hitachi 60. Actually when I was loading it tonight I was thinking the same thing...I need a bigger excavator now.
