Good grammar is a good thing. Good diction is also a good thing. In construction there is a lot of verbal communication as there is in other careers also. When talking to co workers, contractors, and architects I try to be clear in my sentence form and diction. Sometimes it doesn't go well. I tell my guys that half of the English language is listening. Too often I see where the person I'm talking to has created a visual image in his mind that he is familiar with from past experiences and not necessarily accurate to the project we are dealing with. That can be a tough bridge to cross. I've been tripped up by Architects who lable something to be "demoed" when they actually meant "salvaged".
Unfortunately we are seeing more where the numbers don't work either. When the Architectural, Structural, and Mechanical dimension don't carry through it gets to be a mess.
Grammar is affected by the dialect from the area so I typically don't get to excited. I grew up in a neighborhood where the dialect was a mixture of English, German, and Polish. Ha! I can't find most of those words in any dictionary.
