When i was probably a senior in high school i was riding around with my buddy in his car drinking slo gin. I cant stand the smell of that stuff nearly fifty years later but that is another story. Anyway, my billfold slipped out of my pocket in his car but i didnt notice it till the next morning. I called him, he said his sister had the car but he will ask her if she had seen it. She said she had NOT seen it. I got a new billfold, license and draft card. A couple weeks later i got a call from the county snow plow guy who said he found it on the shoulder of the road but he wanted a five dollar finder's fee which i will call extortion. THis was in the late 60's and five bucks was a lot of money to me. I paid the five bucks and got it back but the money in the billfold was gone. It was found on a road we did not travel so i know someone found it in the car, took the money and pitched it out the window.
Another story, the dealer i took my tractor for major work closed so the next time i needed work done on that tractor i took it to a dealer in another town. I was a new customer to them so they didnt know me except for one of the parts men and one of the mechanics. The work was done i drove the tractor home and put it to work. I was expecting the bill to come in a week or so but it never showed up. A month later there was no bill. Two months later it had not come yet so i went to the dealer to pay it. After telling the secretary my bill didn't come she looked at the records and found out it had been sent to another customer with the same name i have. The bill was for a little over $1000 so it wasnt exactly peanuts. She thanked me for my honesty, i paid the bill and have been their customer ever since. Why didnt the other customer with the same name as me notice he was billed a little over $1000 too much and notify the dealer?
