The purpose of 24 cell plates is to be able to plant higher corn populations which either exceed the planters capability with 16 cell plates and also not to have to run the plate drive as fast to get the desired population. as far as which plate to use no one can tell you that as you will have to match the seed and the plates allowing only seed in each cell with a little room left over but not allowing two seeds to fit side by side or on top of each other
