Steve, if I'm not mistaken (I was a used tractor dealer but that's been years ago) a few 3 brush generators were used with EITHER the older manual Low/High charge switch control and separate cutout OR a full fledged Voltage Regulator with the internal cutout relay, but I agree it seems most 3 brush were used with the manual systems and a separate Cutout Relay. I bet my friend Bob M knows.
