I can't help you out, but will tell you it's an absolute blast hunting them. When I went however, I too used my .17 and it wasn't the best choice. After 100 yards or so the strong winds were a definite factor. Also the instant knowing of "I got it" was lacking because some would return to their hole. I was starting to question myself and possibility of scope getting goofed to the point I walked out to check mounds and I did find blood. My buddy that lived where I was at used a .204 I believe he said and a .223......verrrry effective, fun as heck, and you can really reach out there and get them from a distance. I didn't want to give him his gun back! Lol. Also let me know it wasn't really me being that poor of a shot! Have fun, look for those hillsides with the sun hitting them, and bring LOTS of ammo!!!
