Traction is also a factor in draw bar horsepower. If you don't have an articulated tractor properly ballasted, it won't pull much better than a row-crop tractor. Just having a dozer blade hung off the front of a 9250 makes a huge difference. Only time the front tires dig is when the rear tires are spinning without ballast. You can see the front tires skid when turning.
But you can't hang a ton of weights on the nose of a 16 ton tractor, that's pulling a cart with 30-35 tons of grain in it, due to increased compaction. According to my old boss. But don't tell him it's wore out another rear drive shaft slip joint!!!
