I wounder what it would have cost to claim one if they found your stolen bike... I bet it would be more than the bike was worth.
I once brought a 1974 hd electra glide from a local that brought it off a guy in the service. A year later something did not look right with the serial number so I called the local DMV they came out and checked it and found it was hotter than a 2 dollar pistol. The history traced it back to Cincinnati Ohio were it was stolen The PD found it and sold it a auction. In the end NC gave me a custom serial number to sweep it under a rug because NC had also fudged up by letting the title go thru there system that did not have a valid serial number.
I got calls from the insurance co and the Ohio DMV wanting to know were they could pick it up... I told them to call the Cincinnati Ohio PD... :lol:
